AB for campaign on Hepatitis B

download (16)After lending his weight to tuberculosis awareness commercials, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has offered to support the government’s campaign on various health issues, including Hepatitis B.
Bachchan accompanied by his wife Jaya Bachchan today met Health Minister J P Nadda at his residence today and expressed his keen interest in helping the Ministry create awareness of health issues.
“Met Shri @SrBachchan and Ms Jaya Bachchan today at my residence in Delhi. Happy to inform that Shri @SrBachchan showed a keen interest in helping to create awareness on health issues,” Nadda tweeted. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been roped in for a campaign against the infectious disease caused by Hepatitis B virus (HBV), will meet authorities to plan the way ahead for spreading awareness about the health issue.Nadda tweeted: “Deeply impressed by humility and social commitment. Happy to inform that Shri @SrBachchan showed a keen interest in helping to create awareness on health issues”.
“I thank Shri @SrBachchan for offering his support to the health ministry for creating awareness on health issues especially Hepatitis B and TB.”
The 72-year-old Bachchan also took to the micro-blogging website to share an update.”The start of another mission – the awareness of Hepatitis B… meeting authorities take this forward – like Polio and TB,” he wrote.
The “Don” star has been associated with Unicef as a Global Ambassador for polio eradication since 2005. His active campaigning for the cause, coupled with other factors, helped India achieve its polio-free status.
