The Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly was adjourned soon after it met for the day after an unrelenting opposition YSR Congress stalled the proceedings against the proposed hike in power tariff on Tuesday.
After a lull of three days, the Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Tuesday. With Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao rejects an adjournment motion tabled by YSR Congress seeking a discussion on the proposed hike in power tariff, the Opposition members created a rumpus leading to adjournment of the House twice.
Legislative Affairs Minister Y Ramakrishnudu said that the government is ready to make a statement on the issue and urged the Opposition to let the House transact its business. Opposition members returned on Tuesday after staying away from the House for three days following suspension of eight of its MLAs for alleged unruly behavior.
When it met half an hour later, the House was again adjourned within 10 minutes as the Opposition members stormed into the wall and stuck to their demand for immediate discussion on the subject. All the Opposition members had not attended the House in protest against the suspension and alleged unfair attitude of the Speaker.
