The much-publicized Movie Artistes Association (MAA) presidential election between panels of veteran actor Rajendra Prasad and ‘Sahaja Nati’ Jayasudha was finally held here on Sunday amid a final round of a slanging match between the members of the two panels. Amidst the huge scuffle between both the panels of Rajendra Prasad and Jayasudha, the presidential elections of the Movie Artists Association has been an entertaining drama for the spectators. Though the polling went on smoothly on Sunday, the results that are awaited has been postponed again.
The counting date may be decided after the hearing on April 7th. Both Jayasudha and Rajendra Prasad panel have made serious allegations on each other attracting full attention to the elections.
After a time period of two years [2013-25], Rajendra Prasad and Jayasudha have contested in the presidential elections of MAA chamber. Earlier, Rajendra Prasad was touted to be unanimously elected as the MAA president, but Jayasudha’s nomination has added the enough spice.
There was never a serious contest, more so for the post of president, in MAA elections in the past. The fact that elections took place this time for the posts of president, general secretary, executive vice-president, treasurer, two joint secretaries and 18 executive committee members is in itself a rarity, admit those in the industry. Manchu Lakshmi and Sivakrishna were unanimously elected vice-presidents. Interestingly, the average thus far has only been around 350.
Apparently, the results were put on hold until the next hearing. A fresh decision about the results might be announced by the court on 7 April. Meanwhile, the anxiety around the results continues.
